December 30, 2004 13:41 - Wouldn't It Be Amazing If You Had A Dog Park Near You?
Living in the burbs, you'll see tons of people with dogs. While several cities have parks with "dog park areas", my particular part of the burbs does not have a dog park or even an area at the county park that's just for dogs.
Months ago several of the dog lovers in my town got together and decided they wanted a dog park. They organized their request and started approaching all kinds of cities, municipalities and even the county.
Our particular city said no. As did many other cities. These cool dog lovers just kept on trying and trying...and they will soon see their efforts pay off.
If you would like to see one of these dog parks in your area, why not get some fellow dog lovers together and try the same. You and your dog will love socializing at one of these playgrounds.

December 31, 2004 13:42 - Just Imagine...Simple, Healthy, Home-Cooked Meals For Your Dog.
It may seem like a lot of work, but preparing nutritious dog food can be done quite easily. I started making this recipe for my little Jack Russell Terrier, Molly< when she developed skin problems due to allergies. Her paws were very red and itchie. She was miserable. After about a month of eating this recipe, her skin cleared up. The best part is she loves her food.
First, I buy the cheapest cut of veal. If it is on sale I buy several packages and freeze them. I also try to get pieces that have a marrow bone in them. These are the only kind that I give to Molly. (She can't splinter them) She gets to chomp on them as special treats.
- Drizzle olive oil in a roasting pan
- Place veal in pan along with chopped broccoli, cauliflower and sweet potato
- Sprinkle with a generous portion of garlic powder
- Drizzle a little more olive oil on veggies
- Bake at 350 degrees farenheit until meat is done
*Meanwhile cook brown rice according to package directions.
When food has cooled cut up veal. Combine food in the follwing proportion:
30% startch (rice and potatoes)
I leave enough food in the fridge for a couple of days at a time and freeze the rest.
Note: You can substitute any ingredients as long as your dog is not sensitive to it and you serve it in the proper proportion.
